Notes:
I would first like to thank the organizers and Dr. Schweitzer for inviting me
Today I’m going to talk about some exciting new findings made possible by the marriage of behavioral analysis and functional MRI imaging about the how the cerebellum may play a role in drug response in ADHD children.
Cerebellum Latin for “little brain” and it literally is (only 10% of the volumn but has over half of all neurons in the brain!
For many years the cerebellum was thought to be involved excessively in the coordination of motor acts.
Recently, with the advent of fMRI, the cerebellum has been found to be important in cognitive and emotional functions.
I like to think it helps coordinate the movement of thoughts and feeling.
